What are you doing on these hot Sundays that want to see you gathering in an art conditioned setting? My answer is to look for an event happening in a museum or theatre.
That’s just what I did this last weekend. My son Michael came forward, took me to church, then we headed to Buckhannon for lunch. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at C J Maggie’s. I have never been disappointed when I visit there. They are one of the first establishments to serve fried zucchini. I must tell you to plan o n arriving early as there was waiting room only as we were leaving..
Now here is one of the best deals of the day. We walked to the Colonial Arts Center, a couple doors down from the restaurant to attend the presentation of ABBAs MAMMA MIA. It is the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her birth father. They have gathered on this beautiful Greek Island to celebrate her wedding. These three men from her mother’s past show up on the eve of her wedding. The story unfolds with a great hilarious ending.
Those great songs that kept us all humming and tapping our toes were Honey Honey, Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, The Winner Takes It All, Take A Chance On Me, I Have A Dream, and of course Mamma Mia. Just when I was in need of a good laugh and a light heart, this did it for me. A big thank you to Michael.
An amazing special for me was learning that Ashton Nardella had a great part in this play. I talked to him after the play and learned what a great guy he is. He is a student at Wesleyan. I am sure we will be seeing him more in the future.
This was the last show but I am sure there will be more this summer in our area. Please support them.
I hope you are staying cool and enjoying the summer. Do not forget to water your flowers and garden.
Take care and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
