This week’s edition of Tee It Up brought a return trip to Morgantown to the Lakeview Resort. Last week, the focus was on the Mountain View course and this week it is the Lakeview course that has our attention.
This historic track was designed by James Harrison. Harrison completed the work in shifts with the first nine completed in 1950 and the back side finished in 1954. Ironically, they are two very contrasting nines. The front side is much tighter and a couple hundred yards shorter. Harrison gives golfers a break on the pedestrian par four first, but from there, the ball accuracy is essential just to avoid big numbers. Tree lined narrow fairways have knees knocking till the turn.
Coming back in, golfers can grip it and rip it with a more aggressive approach in mind. A pair of lengthy par fives (numbers 14 and 18 620 yards) require length off the tee.
From the blues, this par 72 course ranges 6,760 yards. There are four sets of tees providing a fun, fair, and challenging round for golfers of all skill levels.
The fully stocked pro shop has everything needed for your round. The 19th hole is exceptional, offering indoor and outdoor dining and drink options. Lakeview Resort offers a touch of class before, during, and after your round on Lakeview course.
