Over the last several months, I have been thinking about what would make my life more peaceful. As I pondered about this situation, I thought about all the wonderful baths that I have taken and the effects they had on me.

My earliest memories of a bath was my mother filling a tub that was used for many things in our house. You could find mom soaking clothes in it or even catching rain water in it. Well it seemed on Saturday evening my sister Joan and I got our weekly baths in it. Mom would boil water and fill the tub for us to get our weekly bath. I can still remember how much I enjoyed relaxing in the warm water. During this period my dad was building our home and soon we had our modern built in tub. My enjoyment of a bath continued throughout my life.

There are so many events in my life that I attach to a bath. When I was going on a great date it was preceded by a relaxing bath. When my heart was broken or another sorrowful event I headed to the bath tub to hide my tears. I could write a book about things in my life that I attached to a bath.

So with all this in mind, I kept thinking that perhaps a walk in tub was just what I needed to add a little enjoyment to this part of my life. I talked about it to a few friends and got that how can you take a bath instead of a shower. Do you feel clean. Then,,”oh my goodness you cannot get out of it till the water drains.” I thought this might take twenty minutes. And the negative comments continued. As time proceeded and I knew I was really interested, I went to the source and made several calls to installers. They had answers to all those negative comments which satisfied my questions. The last thing was the price and I also found this to be consistent with those installers. Yes, they are costly, but at 86 years old, what else would make me happy? When I finally decided, my favorite comment to the installer was you know “long term for me is tomorrow.” When they learned this was my Christmas present to myself, they agreed to have it so I could take a wonderful bubble bath on Christmas Eve.

Now an answer to those questions. The water drains out in about five minutes. If you feel the need you can take the shower head and rinse off before you get out.

Now I plan my days around when I can get into that wonderful tub. It is so comfortable to sit in and the jets relax every muscle in my body. I can get myself in and out very safely. I am still working on the amount of bubble bath I need to keep the bubbles below my chin.

I feel this is one of the best investments I have made. If you are considering this please look into it and treat yourself.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I encourage you to take steps to prevent you from getting the flu. Stay warm, stay healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
