Thomas “Tom” Berkely Sheppard

Thomas “Tom” Berkely Sheppard, 56, of Hepzibah, departed this Earth and was called home to be with our heavenly Father on Saturday, September 20, 2025 following a tragic accident.  He was born in Dallas, TX on January 5, 1969 to the late George Thomas Sheppard and Doris (Emerson) Bailey.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved hunting, fishing and farming.  He loved animals, his dogs “Sophie” and “Toby” as well as several cats.  Tom never met a stranger and would help anyone in need.  He had a heart of gold and is now in Heaven with Jesus.

He is survived by two sons:  Thomas Michael Sheppard and wife Sherri of Clarksburg and their daughters, Luna and Terra Sheppard and Nicholas Coffman of Hepzibah; two brothers:  George F. Sheppard and companion Bobbi Jo of Louisiana and Harold Sheppard and wife Lisa of Hepzibah; two sisters:  Sara Harris of West Milford and Barbara McKinney and companion John of Clarksburg as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by one nephew, Michael Dalton Sheppard; one niece, Josette Myers; paternal grandparents:  Clarence and Marie Sheppard and maternal grandparents:  Shelby “Shag” and Mildred Emerson.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 for visitation from 2:00pm until 8:00pm.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Steve Proctor officiating.  Interment to follow to Sheppard Family Cemetery in Hepzibah.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Sheppard

family.
