Troy Denzil O’Dell, Sr., 79, of Enterprise, passed away on August 11, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones.  He was born on February 20, 1946 in Shinnston to the late Clayton Kemper O’Dell and Genevieve (Hamrick) O’Dell.

Troy was a proud Veteran, having served his country in the United States Army.  He worked as a Coal Miner and also worked as a machinist at Precision and Minnoti and had his own heating and cooling business. He liked to hunt and fish, enjoyed family gatherings and beekeeping and was also available to help anyone in need.

He is survived by two sons:  Troy O’Dell, Jr. and companion Edna Smith of Smithfield and Jeffery Ramsey of Shinnston; three daughters:  Diane DiPerna of Enterprise, Tammy Matheny and husband Kenny of Shinnston and Vanesa Harrison of Enterprise; one sister, Carol Lee Tichnell (and her late husband, John) of Enterprise ; one brother, Jennings O’Dell and wife Darlene of Enterprise; seven grandchildren:  Kristian Burge, Ricky DiPerna, Shalon Matheny, Tyler Matheny, Ali Riley, Savannah Ramsey and Emily O’Dell; three great grandchildren:  Aidan Burge, Liam Burge and Kale Riley as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Troy is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn O’Dell and one brother, Dave O’Dell.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” for the kind and compassionate care provided by Troy’s hospice nurses, his neighbor Deacon David Lester and to Lloyd Parrish, Jr. for his friendship and all the help given.

In honoring Troy’s wishes he will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the O’Dell family.
