Shinnston is full of people who garden AND it is full of people who help others. That is the combination needed in the Community Garden. It is time to start working the garden – time to plant, time to sow – so we can reap the rewards with an abundance of produce. Everything raised goes to the Lord’s Pantry Food Bank.
In 2014, the first year for the Shinnston Community Garden, over 800 pounds of produce was raised and distributed at the Lord’s Pantry. We hope to more than double that in 2015, but it needs YOUR help. There is something for everyone to do.
A work crew is needed Saturday, May 16 from 8:00 a.m. until noon. And weather permitting, there will be more gardening Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (May 18 – 20) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Come on down to the Community Garden so you can have the satisfaction of being able to say – “I helped make that goal of 1,600 pounds of produce possible. I helped in the Community Garden.”
