I finished my Thanksgiving pumpkin pie and all of a sudden it is time to get ready for Christmas. The season is upon us and if we are not careful we will become inundated with all the errands we must complete and will not be able to enjoy the season. So what do we do? We slow down, make a list, and stick to it the best we can. If we are unable to follow the list, do not worry. Do not become a slave to it and let it bog you down. No one but you will know if you have not met all the items on the list, and do not tell anyone.
First of all, get your calendar out and fill in events that you might attend. Some unexpected items may come up and you may have to replace those already on the calendar. That’s ok; fill-in dates with those things you will enjoy most.
Next, plan a little celebration with those friends that mean the most to you. If you do not want to plan an event at home, check out some of the restaurants that might have a late breakfast menu and serve coffee and a sweet and keep to your budget. The main thing is being together. A late morning event will not compete with all the other celebrations.
Do not get your budget all out of line by spending money for gifts. Make your favorite candy, cake or other dish that you might be known for, tie a bow on it and gift it to your friends. Time is the most wonderful thing you can give, so leave time in your schedule to share time with your family or friends.
We are sure to have a happy holiday season.
Share a brief note with you. You know that man Mr. Murphy whose law applies, well he came visiting us this past week. Our hot water tank sprung a leak and consequently we ended up with several inches of water in our basement. I did not discover it for several days and by this time there was a lot of damage. Our main concern was the mold issue and I immediately tried to find a company that could get this mess cleaned up. With the help of my insurance adjuster I was able to get in contact with Rapid Disaster Solutions. They came immediately and worked for almost a week, getting rid of mold, discarding furniture that had been affected and laying new carpet. Everything in the room was disinfected. And we were pleased when they left. I recommend them highly and they can be reached at 304 608 3569.
The Bridgeport Light Up Night was beautiful and I really enjoyed the fireworks. There was a great crowd and we enjoyed the activities from the new dining area at Chicago Pizza.
The Sons of Italy Christmas party had an overflowing crowd at The Best Western Motel. The food was great and Marissa Bailey entertained us with beautiful Christmas music.
I hope to have,my traditional Pita Piata party this week and then I will really be in the Christmas mood.
A happy birthday to Holli Jarvis, Hunter Queen, Miranda Lang and a big 62nd to Marty and Mike Queen.
Take care, be careful in the snow and stay healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through the Grapevine.”
