William Anthony Abruzzino of Bonita Springs, Florida passed peacefully at his home on August 25, 2025 surrounded by his family at the age of 91. (Known as Bill by family and friends). Born in Shinnston, WV, on March 14, 1934, son of Robert and Barbara (Spenia) Abruzzino. Bill graduated from Cowen High School and attended Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV.
He worked for his father’s food stores and later developed shopping centers and hotels in WV. His life’s mission was creating jobs for the people of WV. Bill is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Rebecca (Becky White) Abruzzino, along with his daughter Martha (Abruzzino) Hughes of Atlanta, GA, sons Robert and William Abruzzino II of Bonita Springs, FL. Predeceased by son, Mark Abruzzino.
Six grandchildren, Kristina (Dyer) Kennedy; Seth Abruzzino; Connor (Briana) Abruzzino; Noah Abruzzino; Garrett Abruzzino and Jonah (Alyssa) Abruzzino. Daughters-In-law-Beth Abruzzino and Maria Abruzzino and seven great-grandchildren. Bill was a kind, loving and generous man who always helped those in need. He was selfless never looking for reward or recognition. Loyal, trustworthy, and honest in every interaction he had. He touched many lives and never said “No” to anyone. He was a loyal member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, FL.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike Street, Shinnston between 3-8 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Ann Catholic Church, 610 Pike Street, Shinnston at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 with Rev. D. Joseph, MCBS, as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
