The United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties, in collaboration with Healthy Grandfamilies, Legal Aid of WV, CASA, Harrison County BOE, and Hands of Hope, is pleased to announce the upcoming Family & Friends Christmas Dinner event. This special occasion aims to bring joy and support to over 70 children, 60 grandparents, foster families, and dozens of volunteers from the community.
Healthy Grandfamilies, an esteemed organization dedicated to empowering and educating grandparents, will provide an information series during the event. The series focuses on equipping grandparents with the necessary tools to support their households effectively. By linking them to valuable resources and fostering a community of support, Healthy Grandfamilies seeks to enhance the lives of these grandfamilies.
Legal Aid of WV will also be present at the evening’s event, hosting an educational seminar covering multiple topics. This seminar aims to provide grandparents with valuable information to help keep their grandchildren safer and healthier. The topics covered will address various aspects of grandparenting, offering guidance and support to the attendees.
The Family & Friends Christmas Dinner is scheduled to take place at Simpson Creek Baptist Church in Bridgeport on December 14th, starting at 5:30 PM. This heartwarming event will provide an opportunity for families to come together, enjoy a delicious meal, and create lasting memories during the holiday season.
Brad Riffee, the Executive Director of United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties, expressed his pride in fully funding the social worker position for the Healthy Grandfamilies program through United Way support. Serving over 238 grandfamilies, the program’s dedicated social worker, Tammy Romano, and Harrison County BOE volunteer coordinator, Pam Hotsinpiller, go above and beyond in facilitating connections between grandparents and essential resources. The United Way’s support plays a crucial role in ensuring the success and impact of this program.
Riffee also invites individuals and organizations to make a difference in the lives of these families and others to be served by gifting a generous donation to the United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties. Contributions can be made by contacting the United Way at 304-624-6337 or visiting their website at www.unitedwayhdc.org. 100% of each donation will support this program and 21 other United Way fund partners.
