As President of the Shinnston High School Class of 1950 and a proud Drum Majorette, Lillian always looked forward to the annual Alumni Weekends. At Fairmont State College, she was named freshman class Homecoming Princess. Very active in the Shinnston community, Lillian was a member of several civic groups including the Quota Club of Shinnston, the Shinnston Spartan Boosters, and the Shinnston Woman’s Club. She was also a firm believer in Jesus and was a member of both Coon’s Run Baptist Church and Jewel City Church where she served on the Food Committee. For many years, Lillian would assist her mother in preparing the menus for Shinnston Schools.
Lillian was a sales associate at the Casual Corner at Meadowbrook Mall. A strong and spirited woman, she survived both the Shinnston Tornado and breast cancer. She never missed an event that included her children and grandchildren. Some of her best memories were traveling to watch her grandson, Adam, play basketball.
Beyond all of these accomplishments, Lillian will be remembered most for cooking, especially her famous potato salad, for her friends and family. Her secret ingredient, in every dish, was her LOVE. And she used it liberally in all recipes.
The family would like to thank Drs. Michael Angotti and Richard Vasicek, as well as June Jett of WVU Hospice and the staff of UHC’s 5 South for the excellent care given to Lillian. Also, her special family friends, John and Gloria Westfall, Jimmy Salerno, Sammy Marra, Angel Bradley, and Mike and Kim Abruzzino.
