Deloris M. Minor, 98, of Shinnston, passed away at her residence on January 7, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 12, 1926, a daughter to the late Roy Pickens and Gladys (West) Pickens.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Minor; children Gary Minor, Marlene Minor (Neff) and Enith Minor (Wright); siblings Elaine Wright, Harold Pickens, Franklin Pickens, Ronald Pickens, Evelyn Bragg, and Beatrice Chambers; grandson Darin Neff; and sons-in-law Tom Neff and Charles Wright.
Deloris is survived by her son David (Becky) Minor of Shinnston; brother Eugene (Lynn) Pickens of GA, and sister Carol Ann (Ed) Morrissey of FL; grandchildren Chad (Amy) Wilson, Shannon Minor and partner Maria, and Erin Minor and partner Matt; great-grandchildren Kirstein, Jerry, Chandler, Dakota, Duncan, and Connor; great-great grandchildren Wrenlei, Eleanor, Romy, and Pierson; and step great-grandchildren Lee, Sloan, and Alex; and her daughter Enith’s loving partner Doyle Cowger.
Deloris previously worked for Maiden Form, Shinnston Hat Shop, U.S. Post Office, and G.C. Murphy. She was a lifelong member of the North Shinnston Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, teacher, secretary President of local ABW Missions, and choir member. Deloris belonged to the Woman’s Club, Garden Club, Lion’s Club, Senior Citizens, Eastern Star, Dabblers Club, the Bi-County Nutrition Board, Judson Association, and Silver Hair Legislature. She enjoyed painting, writing poetry, and quilting.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 2:00PM-8:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 10:30 with Pastor Mathew Keith officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
