Lorenna Ellen Freeland, 65, of Bridgeport, passed on April 21, 2026 at United Hospital Center. She was born on May 9, 1960 in Clarksburg to the late Franklin Southern and Thelma Isabelle (McConnell) Southern.
Lorenna graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1980. She worked as a CNA and medical assistant. She also had her CDLs and drove bus and truck. She loved to watch cooking shows and enjoyed camping, fishing and trips to the beach. Mostly, she loved spending time with her family and her grandbabies.
She is survived by her daughter, Niketta Wilson and husband Bennie; grandchildren: Waylyn Wilson and River Wilson; brothers: Eddie Southern and companion Becky Wick and Jimmy Southern and wife Missy; sister in-law, Penny Southern; nieces: Misti Southern Patterson and husband Matt, Emily McIntyre and husband Devon and Rachel Southern and companion Teylor Evans; nephews: Nick Southern and wife Tabby and Zach Southern and companion Candi Jones; great nieces and nephews: Kylar Southern, Gabe Southern, Annalee McIntyre, Aubree Owens, Asher Gillum, Ayson McIntyre, Gareth Southern, Addie Southern, Kohen Evans, Lydia Patterson, Emillia, Hailey, Skyler and Maddie.
In addition to her parents, Lorenna is preceded in death by one brother, Rick Southern, nephew, Matt Southern, sister-in-law, Debbie Southern and other family members.
In honoring her wishes, she will be cremated. Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Southern family.
