I would certainly be remiss if I did not mention the retirement dinner held for Father Casey Mahone that was held last week on the occasion of his retirement from the Immaculate Conception Church.
First I would like to mention the venue which was the Morris which is located in the Glen Elk district of Clarksburg. The building was originally a warehouse and has been renovated keeping the warehouse look but has taken on an elegant look which enhances the piers and the flue work of the heating system.
To reach the second floor ballroom you get on an old fashion freight elevator which deposits you into the ballroom. The ballroom is decorated so tastefully that you forget you are in a warehouse.
I did not personally check these figures, but it is my understanding that there were 400 in attendance and although the room was full it was not packed and there was plenty of room to circulate.
The food was delicious and was overseen by Julio’s Restaurant with donations from other local restaurants.
The evening ended with a birthday cake and the singing of
Happy Birthday to Father Casey.
I urge you to take the opportunity to visit the Morris. It is a wonderful addition to venues in our area.
There are many places to go in the area. Please support the Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours and the Annual meeting which will be held in the next couple of weeks. There will also be a Meet Your Candidate event which will give you an opportunity to meet those individuals running for office.
Spring is here; it is time to get out. The main thing to do is plant your gardens, whether flowers or vegetables. But most of all shake off those winter doldrums.
Take care, stay healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
