Vehicles lined the streets and nearby parking lots were filled to maximum capacity as well. To be on the safe side in case heavy rain was experienced, the stage was covered with a large tarp for the protection of the performers and their equipment, and as the photo shows, many attendees erected colorful canopies for their own protection from sun or rain – whichever decided to grace the event with its presence! Thankfully the canopies were needed more for protection from the hot sun rather than rain!

Organizer Steve Glass spoke on behalf of the committee that hosted the Party on the Green held in the downtown area on Saturday, August 15, saying he was once again very pleased with the turnout of people, particularly with the unpredictable weather that has plagued our area recently.

“We had only a very few raindrops for just a brief period, and otherwise, it was a bright, sunny day. We are grateful for the support we received and the number of people who traveled long distances to attend,” he stated. “The musicians were great – every bit as wonderful as the people in this community. Everyone seems to really enjoy having this opportunity to reunite and renew friendships that have been made over the years.”

When asked if this event will remain a yearly event, Glass concluded, “Yes, we hope to continue to do this annually as long as we can. It draws people to our downtown area and has become more like a community reunion and a joyful highlight before summer comes to an end.”
