Luella Mae Dotson Tanner of Shinnston passed away on September 29, 2026. She was born June 29, 1941, to the late William Ralph Dotson and Orpha Belle Dotson.
Luella married Wayne Tanner on August 29, 1958, and together they had five daughters, Debbie Colanero (Jamie), Jennifer Tanner, Rebecca Tanner (Brad), Heather Pillo (Jimmy), and Amber Rose (Matthew). She also had 10 grandchildren, Kristoffer Lucas (Stephanie), Abby Hunt, Rachel Babich (Richard), Daisy McGeehan (Allen), Emma Rose, Bradley Rohm, Becca Rohm, Samantha Pillo (David), Sarah Collins (Zane), and Kara Pillo, eight great-grandchildren, Tyler Lucas, Marley Wilson, Olivia and Maddie Collins, Christopher Arnold, Ryleigh, Roman and Rhett Babich. She said every one of her grandchildren were “beautiful”.
Lue is also survived by her brother Roger Dotson (Janet) and sisters Judy Bennett (Larry) and Janet Davis (Jim). She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Leslie Tanner and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Wayne Tanner as well as her brother Robert Dotson (Irma) and sister Doris Hall.
Lue was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker until her youngest daughter started school. She then went to work in a retail setting for the next 30+ years. She enjoyed taking care of her home and family as well as sewing, reading, and trips to the beach.
Luella will be cremated and no formal service will take place. A date for a memorial service for our family will be chosen later.
