Hayward Lee Miller, 84, of Shinnston, went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2026. He was born in Shinnston on December 11, 1941. Hayward was the last remaining son of the late Harvey H. Miller and Sadie L. (Heldreth) Miller.

Hayward was a loving husband, father and grandfather as well as a Golden Gloves boxer. He worked as a farmer, carpenter and retired as a mechanic from Loveridge Coal mines after 34 years’ service. He was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Shinnston. Hayward proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He loved to hunt, fish and collect guns. He will be greatly missed.

Hayward is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris J. (Fisher) Miller of Shinnston; four children: Kathy I. Raines and husband John, Sandra L. Fazalare, Marvin M. Miller and Billie J. Miller all of Shinnston; nine grandchildren: Brian K. Raines, Marlie J. Vance and Travis, Daniele L. Gerrard, Jessica D. Faber and Ryan, Daniel A. Lucas and Sydney all of Shinnston, Kristyn N. Blake and Steven of Lumberport, Justyn M. Miller and Elizabeth of Bridgeport and Grayson C. Lucas and Toni J. Kovalck of Shinnston; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hayward is preceded in death by three brothers: Jack H. Miller, Warren J. Miller and Ronald L. Miller and one sister, Ila Kathleen Sears.

The family would like to thank all the angels God sent to help them through their time of need, you know who you are.

In honoring his final wishes, cremation services will be provided.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Miller family.
