The Shinnston Woman’s Club met at Jimmy’s Diner at noon on January 16, 2017.
Co-President Deborah Starkey gave the Devotion and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Hospitality was provided by Carrie Mancino. Donations were taken for the Lincoln Scholarship Fund.
The January program was presented by representatives from the Harrison County Senior Center. A brochure was given to the members of the Woman’s Club who were present, showing activities and services available at the Harrison County Senior Center.
Bill O’Field spoke about how he came to the Senior Center all hunched over suffering from spinal stenosis and now, 18 months later, he is able to stand, walk without a walker, and enjoy life. He credits the Tai Chi Program at the Senior Center for this. Carol Brown and Donna Hill gave a demonstration of Tai Chi. Then they took the members through a Tai Chi exercise.
Among the activities offered at the Senior Center are Tai Chi, Zumba, ceramics, exercise classes, toning, and bingo. The café is back, serving breakfast until 10 A.M. Monday thru Friday and lunch for reservations made by 8:30 A.M. Monday thru Friday.
Woman’s Club members in attendance were: Connie Leuliette, Lucille Anderson, Barbara Rogers, Donna Mick, Sulayne Brooks, Joseph Brooks, Kathleen Panek, Rayleigh Miles, Carrie Mancino, Judy Wilson, Deborah Starkey, Mary Ann Spadafore, and Mary Ann Ferris.
The February meeting will be held on February 20, 2017 at Jimmy’s Diner at noon.
