The Harrison County athletes in the spotlight this week are Lincoln’s Emery Riley and Eryn Ashcraft.
The Cougars had a pair of soccer players three-peat this week. On Monday in a 6-1 win over Williamstown, Emory Riley recorded a hat trick. Riley would net half of the team’s goals in the victory.
On Saturday, Lincoln would blank Petersburg, 9-0 in the affair. Eryn Ashcraft would net three goals pushing her career total to 105. Ashcraft’s total is now the new school record for goals scored.
Congratulations to Emory Riley and Eryn Ashcraft for shining bright in the SN and HCJ athlete spotlight!
It’s that time once again to acknowledge the efforts of Harrison County’s student-athletes. Each week we review the performances of the athletes from the six schools (Bridgeport, Liberty, Lincoln, Notre Dame, Robert C. Byrd, and South Harrison) in our county.
The Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal’s Athlete of the Week award is an avenue to promote the youth of our county while bringing attention to their athletic accomplishments.
