It’s that time once again to acknowledge the efforts of Harrison County’s student-athletes. Each week we review the performances of the athletes from the six schools (Bridgeport, Liberty, Lincoln, Notre Dame, Robert C. Byrd, and South Harrison) in our county.
The Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal’s Athlete of the Week award is an avenue to promote the youth of our county while bringing attention to their athletic accomplishments.

The Harrison County athletes in the spotlight this week are Bridgeport’s Reese Pierce and Lincoln’s Luke Joyce.
Indian basketball player Reese Pierce helped her team to a win over Ripley last week. Pierce netted a game high 19 points and added a pair of steals in the victory.
Cougar sharpshooter Luke Joyce was like 7-11 last Friday against RCB, open all night! Joyce ironically was seven of 11 from three-point range scoring, a game-high 21 points in the loss to the Flying Eagles.
Congratulations to Bridgeport’s Reese Pierce and Lincoln’s Luke Joyce for shining bright in the SN and HCJ spotlight!
