Bernard L. “Buck” Swiger

Bernard L. “Buck” Swiger, 70, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Beulah Land Assisted Living in Grafton. He was born in Clarksburg, October 22, 1953, a son of the late Eugene Bernard and Patricia Jane “Peg” Sweeney Swiger.

Buck was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette Vauhn, Patricia J. Swiger, and Martha R. Vanaman.

Surviving are two brothers, Harley Gene Swiger, and Nelson Bryan Swiger, two nieces, Tamra Leann and Heather Dawn Zannino; and two nephews, Daniel Lee Murray and Bryan Earl Swiger; and a host of church family and Judson Baptist Camp friends.

Buck was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and a long-time regular at Judson Baptist Camp He was affectionately known as the “Candy Man”. He enjoyed being around his many friends and church camp family. Buck could always be found sharing the love of Christ with whomever he came in contact with. He visited many families always bringing pizza or hot dogs. He enjoyed watching his friends and their families at sporting events all over the county and was very caring and supportive to everyone, always giving sound biblical advice.

Friends will be received at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Friday, where funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, with Pastor Tim Sandy officiating. Interment will be in the Wallace Lions Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Judson Baptist Camp at the funeral home or by mail to 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston WV, 26431. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com. The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve Buck’s family.
