Carol Sue Gooden

Carol Sue Gooden, 74, of Mannington passed away on April 16, 2025 at her residence. She was born on August 29, 1950 to the late Sanford and Genevieve Scritchfield Thomas.

Carol is survived by her children: Robert “Steve” Gooden and wife Lori of Mannington, William “Bud” Gooden and wife Elizabeth of Mannington, and Thomas Overton and wife Ann of Ohio; grandchildren: Heather Gooden O’Dell and husband Tyler, Kiersten Gooden, Braxten Gooden, Jordan Overton and wife Brie, Colton Overton and wife Destiny; great-grandchildren: Remington O’Dell, Ben Overton, and Emory Overton; brothers: Robert Thomas, and Dave Thomas and wife Donna; sister-in-law Sharon McClure; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, David Robert Gooden; brothers: Ed Scritchfield and wife Jean, and Ted Scritchfield; sister Phyliss Newbrough and husband Dan; sister-in-law Judy Thomas; and mother and father-in-law, William and Lennie Gooden.

Carol was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She liked to sew, crochet, and do embroidery. She was also a huge Mountaineer fan. Carol was a lifetime member of the North Shinnston Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held for Carol on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oakdale Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Reel officiating. Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.perinefunerals.com
