Charles Edward “Butch” Harris, Jr., 78, of Shinnston, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born in Fairmont, March 26, 1946, a son of the late Charles Edward Harris, Sr. and the late Ida Virginia Hoffman Harris Pownell.
Surviving are one sister, Janet Bucklew, Shinnston, several nieces and nephews, his cousin, Jack Robinson, his friend, Jim Nicholson, and his many friends and coworkers at the Opportunity Shop in Fairmont. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by a brother, Davis Allen Harris.
Butch was raised in the Hoult Community of Fairmont and worked for many years at the Opportunity Shop in Fairmont, and several other locations, throughout the years. He enjoyed bowling and working puzzles. He loved holding babies and watching old TV shows such as Gun Smoke, M.A.S.H., Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
The family will receive friends at the North Shinnston Baptist Church, 19 Oak St., Shinnston, Friday, June 7, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 12pm with Pastor Mathew Keith officiating.
