MORGANTOWN – Congressman Alex X. Mooney announced he will nominate 13 West Virginia students from eight counties in West Virginia’s Second Congressional District to the U.S Service Academies, which include the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point. The students are from the following counties: Berkeley, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Monongalia, Ohio, Randolph and Taylor.
“Our incredible military academy nominees have been selected based on their academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, leadership skills, physical aptitude, character and motivation,” said Congressman Alex X. Mooney. “Our country is always in need of dedicated, patriotic young men and women to defend our most sacred freedoms. It always makes me very proud to see so many incredible students from West Virginia’s Second Congressional District apply for this life-changing opportunity.”
Congressman Mooney is recommending the following students to the service academies. Final admission is determined by the respective academy.
