Donnie Edward Hashman

Donnie Edward Hashman, Sr., 75, of Gypsy, passed away at United Hospital Center on October 12, 2024.  He was born in Farmington on November 28, 1948 to the late John Henry Hashman and Ruby Louise (Dowdy) Hashman.

He worked for M & H Zinc Plant in Spelter as a laborer.  He also worked for the Carbon Plant in Anmoore and for the town of Anmoore where he retired from.  Donnie was a great mechanic working for several garages. Donnie enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as building model cars.  He loved going to car shows. 

He is survived by two daughters:  Amanda Hashman of Gypsy and Shirley Haught and husband Tom of NC; one son, Donnie “Bub” Hashman, Jr. of Lumberport; two stepsons:  Larry Williams of Gypsy and Carl Vest and wife Dedra of Tunnelton; four stepdaughters: Debbie Quinn of Gypsy, Kathi Bell and husband Dave of Reynoldsville, Christina Varner of Jay, OK and Linda Sendling and husband Donnie of Clarksburg; twin sister, Connie Grogg of Anmoore; three grandsons:  Matthew Flint, Levi Hashman and Alex Haught; three granddaughters:  Arika Flint, Chasity Flint and Triniti Hashman as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many special friends.

In addition to his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by one son, Donnie Borak; one brother, Walter Hashman; two sisters:  Joann Eggert and Ellen “Tillie” Riesenhuber; one stepdaughter, Brenda Ferguson; one great grandson, Aaron Vanderhoff and one brother in law, Bertram “Pete” Grogg.

In lieu of flowers, donations to assist the family with funeral expenses can be made on our website.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11:00am with Minister Donnie Sendling officiating.  Interment will follow to Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Hashman family.
