Doris “Joann” Fleming, 90, of Burgettstown, Pa., formerly of Wallace, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at her caretakers’ residence in Burgettstown, Pa. She was born July 12, 1936 in Wallace, daughter of the late Ira and Vallie Marie (Hurst) Goldsmith.
Joann was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy “Loudin” Fleming; brother, Wayne Edward Goldsmith; sisters: Virginia Jenny Crislip and Helen Marie Anderson.
Upon graduation from Wallace High School in 1955, Joann worked for many years at the Standard Supply Company Store in Dola, WV. She then began a career as a glass decorator at Eagle Convex Glass Specialty Company in Clarksburg, and retired after 20 years of service. Joann married Roy Loudin Fleming at Woodsfield, OH on August 16, 1991, and they shared 28 years of marriage before his passing.
Joann loved flowers, cooking, listening to country music, and sitting on her porch swing and chatting with passersby, especially children, at her home in Wallace. She was a baptized member of the former Smith Baptist Church in Wallace. Joann was loved by many and always made you feel at home.
Joann is survived by stepson, Fritz Benker and wife, Erika; two granddaughters: Jasmine and Tina, all of Germany; brother-in-law, James “Jim” Anderson of Burgettstown, Pa.; sisters-in-law: Ruth Fleming Chase of Huntingtown, MD and Florence Golden Fleming of Mt. Claire, WV; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, many friends and special caretaker, Cathy Studebaker.
Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, on Friday, September 18, 2026 for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Keith Swiger officiating. Interment at Wallace Lions Cemetery.
