Edith Irene Carter, 79, of Clarksburg, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at United Hospital Center. She was born April 30, 1946 in Clarksburg a daughter of the late Eunice Bell Mackey Golden.
Irene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joe Carter, whom she married April 29, 1961.
She is also survived by her children, Clinton Ray Carter and his wife Thea of Hartsville, OH; and John Robert Wade Carter of Clarksburg; her grandchildren, Camden, Colton, Cody, Chelsea, and Joey; her brother, Bob Ford of Madison, WI; and in laws, Duane Williams; and Brooks and Kay Sharp all of Clarksburg.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her son, David Joseph Carter; and her sister, Bootsy Williams.
Irene was a member of Old Time Baptist Church in Clarksburg where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a graduate of Massillon Baptist College. Irene enjoyed crafts, paint, plastic canvas, and especially camping. She also loved spending time with her family.
