Gary Edward Harbert Sr., 76, of Lumberport, passed away on Saturday morning, August 10, 2024, at his residence. Gary is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Harbert; sister Patricia Ann Fisher of Fairmont; daughter Polly Harbert; son Gary Harbert Jr. and wife Jaime Leigh Harbert of Clarksburg; and love of his life and granddaughter Jaden Adeline Harbert. Also surviving are brothers-in-law Charles Huff and wife Cheryl of Fairmont, Larry Huff and wife Karen of Mount Clare; and sister-in-law Robin Huff of Shinnston; nieces and nephews Michael Harbert and wife Lisa of Lumberport, Tom Fisher of Fairmont, Martha Hoy of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Huff and wife Morgan of IN, and Risha Huff of IN; and mother-in-law Mary Morris.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward “Ted” Harbert and Adeline (Knight) Harbert; brother Douglas Harbert and wife Beverly; and  brother-in-law David Fisher.

Gary was a master carpenter who could build anything from a piece of wood including houses. Gary worked at Heartland Building Supply for 42 years, where he met his wife, Shirley. He spent every summer in his favorite place, his garden, where he could make anything grow. He also loved spending time with his best buddy, Chaos. Gary was an amazing provider, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 11:00AM-1:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at Lions Club Cemetery, Lumberport.
