BRIDGEPORT, W.VA.— A special arrival during Girl Scout Week features a warm welcome thanks to a partnership between Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council and United Hospital Center.

To celebrate the first baby girl born at United Hospital Center during Girl Scout Week, Troop 35344 with Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council will present the newborn and her family with a basket of Girl Scout themed goodies and keepsakes in honor of the milestone.

Girl Scout Week commemorates the founding of Girl Scouts of the USA on March 12, 1912, and celebrates more than a century of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

“This is a joyful way to celebrate Girl Scout Week while welcoming a new member of our community,” said Beth Casey, CEO of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council. “We hope this gift serves as a reminder that little Makinleigh is entering a world full of opportunity.”

The basket, delivered by Girl Scout volunteers, helps celebrate the occasion alongside hospital staff.

Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council serves girls and volunteers across West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and Maryland, providing experiences that build confidence, leadership skills and lifelong friendships.
