Glenda Lee Spry

Glenda Lee Spry, 84, of Lumberport, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023 surrounded by her family at her residence.  She was born in Clarksburg on March 21, 1939 to the late Lankford Cloyd Harbert and Ellen Virginia (Harbert) Harbert.

She worked as a school teacher for 36 years, having taught at both Lumberport High School and Lincoln High School.  Glenda was known for her peanut butter fudge and her handwriting.  She loved to sew and to send cards to her family and friends on special occasions.

She is survived by one son, Lloyd Spry and wife Laura of Lumberport; two sisters:  Letha Stutler and Janet Sargent both of Lumberport, as well as several other family members.

In addition to her parents, Glenda is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Spry; one daughter, Beth Ellen Ashmore and one great grandson, Joseph Moneymaker.

In lieu of flowers, Glenda’s wishes were that donations be made to: Clarksburg Mission, 312 N. 4th Street, Clarksburg, WV  26301.

The family would like to give special thanks to Glenda’s two special sisters in law, Yvonne McQuaid and Clista Radcliff, for looking in on Glenda and spending time with and helping care for her.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00am at the Lumberport Lions Cemetery with Pastor John Napier officiating.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Spry family.
