The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce presented a new event to Harrison County which was a great success and will possibly be an annual event. The Women’s Success Summit played to a sold out audience. The sponsor for this program was Stockmeier Urethanes and it was held at the Uptown Event Center.
Marla Feree, Interim Director of the Chamber, invited all present to “have a seat at the table.” And enjoy an afternoon about more than professional development. We will learn about connection conversation, encouragement, and empowerment. We will step away from the everyday demands of work in life and meet other incredible women in our community.
Leading this discussion “at the table,” was moderator, Marissa Sayer and the panelists were Amy Harshbarger, Wilson, Melissa Martinkat, Rachel Romano, Laura Winans, Stephanie Hayhurst Hall, Susan Miley, Sherry Satterfield, Lisa Lang, and Lotus Mac Dowell. The panelists broke into groups of three led by the moderator and shared their experiences. The purpose of the discussions was to step away from the everyday demands of work and life, meet other women from our community and see the change that happens when women support women. The panelists took questions from the audience at the end of each session
The afternoon included a special luncheon prepared by the PW A and several door prizes were awarded to those present. Feree closed the summit by thanking those present for having a seat at the table and for taking time out to connect, to listen, to learn and to support women in our community.
I truly enjoyed this event more than any other I have attended lately. I hope that I will be able to attend the second annual Women’s Success Summit. I had the opportunity to meet several young professional women in our area who truly make a difference. Although they were very professional, they also delighted me with stories about their work life.
