Harriet Ann VanKirk, 86, of Worthington, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at United Hospital Center. She was born on November 22, 1938 in Beckley to the late Peter Claude Bower and Margaret Helen (Deweese) Bower.
Harriet enjoyed bowling attending church services and her animals. Loved making people laugh, dancing, traveling and most of all, time with her family.
Harriet is survived by her husband, Francis Lee VanKirk, Sr; two daughters: Carol Myers and husband Steve of Idamay and Margaret Keller and husband Randy of MO; two sons:
Francis Lee VanKirk, Jr. and wife Kristina of Worthington and Peter Burton and wife Tammie of Mt. Nebo; grandchildren: Jeremy Morris and wife Andrea, Jeff Morris, Joseph Morris and companion Leah Runion, Andrew Harrison, Evan Harrison, Matthew Tibbs and wife Jamie, Michael Tibbs, Peyton VanKirk-Barone and husband David and Kendra VanKirk and companion Quint Markley; great grandchildren: Aiden Morris, Beau Morris, Nayleigh Runion, McKenna Morris, Aden Tibbs, Brennen Tibbs, Anna Malone, Christopher and Andrew Harrison, Jr. and great great grandchild, Kadens Malone.
In addition to her parents, Harriet is preceded in death by her mother in law, Faye VanKirk and Roy and one sister in law, Sharon Nicholson.
Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00am with Julie Wycoff officiating. Interment to follow to Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
