It’s that time once again to acknowledge the efforts of Harrison County’s student-athletes. Each week we review the performances of the athletes from the six schools (Bridgeport, Liberty, Lincoln, Notre Dame, Robert C. Byrd, and South Harrison) in our county.
The Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal’s Athlete of the Week award is an avenue to promote the youth of our county while bringing attention to their athletic accomplishments.
The Harrison County athletes in the spotlight this week are Lincoln’s Aundrea Rockwell and Cole Vincent.
Cougar hoopster Aundrea Rockwell recorded a double-double in her team’s 94 to 38 win over Braxton County. Rockwell scored 14 points and hauled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
Cougar basketball standout Cole Vincent hit a buzzer-beater, propelling Lincoln to the 65 to 64 win over Nicholas County last Friday. Vincent led all scorers with 19 points while garnering a game-high four steals in the thrilling victory.
