On June 13th the Harrison County Historical Society launched a 30 day crowd funding campaign through Network for Good.
The goal is to raise $6,000 for the cash matches of their two Preserve WV AmeriCorps members for the 2017-2018 service year. Those interested in donating can go to www.facebook.com/HCWVHS to find the link to the campaign page.
“We’ve made a ton of progress over the past three years because of the service of our AmeriCorps members,” said Executive Director, Crystal Wimer. “These AmeriCorps members are vital for us in managing our archival collection, providing quality local history programming, preserving the Vance House, and further growing our outreach.”
The historical society has been a Preserve WV AmeriCorps site since 2014, and this is their first fundraising drive specifically for the AmeriCorps member matches. The matches support the living stipend of each AmeriCorps member.
“We’re funded by donation only, and sometimes we have to make tough choices on where we spend our funding,” said Sherri Heavner, HCWVHS Treasurer. “With our community helping us to meet our goal, we won’t have to choose between keeping the lights on and participating in the Preserve WV AmeriCorps program.”
The Harrison County Historical Society is a volunteer-based nonprofit that engages with our community by preserving, collecting, educating, and demonstrating the history and culture of Harrison County and North-Central West Virginia.
