Bridgeport, WV—Dr. Young Mee Choi, a general surgeon, graduated with honors, receiving a bachelor of science degree in endocrinology from King’s College in London, United Kingdom. She also has a bachelor of surgery from King’s College, graduating with distinction in clinical practices. Dr. Choi earned a master’s in public health (MPH), with a concentration in epidemiology and a certificate in global health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, MD.
She completed her general surgery resident at Rutgers Medical School, Newark, NJ. Following residency, she has completed two fellowship programs, a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Connecticut, Hartford, CT and an advanced GI minimally invasive/bariatric surgery fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.
Dr. Choi has been involved in numerous research projects and scientific presentations; she also has patents pending (along with other inventors) in enteral access devices (feeding tubes placed directly into the GI tract to deliver nutrients as well as additional fluids and often is a method for delivering medications).
She belongs to the Association for Academic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the Association of Women Surgeons.
