James Franklin (Jim) Snider

James Franklin (Jim) Snider, 91, of Lumberport, passed away on April 21, 2026. He was born January 27, 1935, in Mannington, WV, a son of the late Lewis Ray Snider and Ethel Virginia Hayes Snider Dodd. He is survived by his wife Ethel Elizabeth Efaw Snider, whom he married July 28, 1956.

Surviving are his three sons, Mitchell Snider (Trena), Shane Snider (Shelley), and Dan Snider (Amanda) all of Lumberport; daughter Cherie Snider of Lumberport; four grandchildren, Shana Skidmore (Kevin), Jeremy Snider (Brittany), Bo Snider (Kaity), and Molly Snider (Kobi); two great grandchildren, Emily Skidmore (Robert), and Kylin Skidmore (Cameron); five great great-grandchildren, Jax Boley, Carson Carroll, Wade Snider and his expecting baby sister, and Hudson Parks; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by one son, James Cass Snider; one brother, Donald Snider; six sisters, Betty Jean Spears, Jacqueline Spencer, Wanda Headley, Garnet Parrish, Judith Hayes, and Patricia Watson; and his father and mother-in law Glen and Ruth Efaw of Mannington.

Jim retired in 1996 from Carnegie Natural Gas Co. with 38 years of service.

He was a member of the Jones Run Church, the Masonic Lodge of Mannington, and the Jones Run Farm Club. While Jim loved hunting, his true passion was farming, raising cattle, and goats for many years, as well as several other kinds of God’s creatures.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 2:00PM-8:00PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 25, 2026 at 11:00AM at the Lions Club Cemetery, Lumberport, with Rev. Martha Holbert officiating.
