James “Jimmy” Walter Goff, 80, of Viropa/Shinnston, passed over on June 13, 2026 in his home. He was born on June 3, 1946 to the late Marshall Harold Goff and Sarah Ellen (Logan) Brooks.
Jimmy was a highly decorated Vietnam Army Veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter gunner with the 281st Assault Operations. He earned numerous Air Medals for heroism; four Navy Vietnam Commendation Ribbons; the Gallantry Cross; the Distinguished Flying Cross; the Bronze Star; and many other 281st Wolf Pack Call for Special Forces assignments. His service reflects great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States of America Army.
Jimmy worked as a coal miner for Robinson Run Mine, Rachel Mine and Loveridge. He retired from West Virginia University, where he was Maintenance Supervisor.
Jimmy and his best friend, Deborah, were married 27 years and made their home happily in the Hood Avenue / Viropa / Shinnston area. Jimmy fought a strong five-year battle against cancer.
His is survived by his wife, Deborah; five daughters: Audra Goff-Wardle, Jamie Kraegenbrink, Marci Priest, Andrea Simmons and Tracey Long; one son, Donnie Radabaugh; seven granddaughters: Kalyn Tate, Savanna Walker, Tory Radabaugh, Ivy Radabaugh, Sara Walker, Summer Walker and Jozie Kraegenbrink; eight grandsons: Kristian, River, Donnie Ray, Greyson, Justin and Colton Radabaugh, Brent and Dylan Wardle; two sisters: Marlene DeWitt and JoAnn Warner; one daughter in law, Kristi Radabaugh; his dog and best friend “Jake” as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by one brother, Nathan Goff; one sister, Barbara Lewis, one grandson, Antonio.
Jimmy will be greatly missed by his loving wife, family and friends. May he rest in peace.
In honoring his wishes, Jimmy will be cremated.
