Leona Marvis Starcher Frame

Leona Marvis Starcher Frame, 92, of Shinnston, passed away on June 29, 2025. Leona was born on August 24, 1932, in Enterprise, a daughter to the late Francis Otmer Starcher and Minnie Frances Watson.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Desmond “Bill” Frame; brother Otmer Clark Starcher; and sister Nina Faundes.

Leona is survived by her daughters, Frances Frame of Shinnston, and Donna (Steven) Howard of Apple Valley, CA; grandchildren Heather Howard of Tampa, FL, and Steven W. Howard of Pittsburg, PA; sisters Caren Carr of Brighton, CO, and Evelyn “Cathy” Starcher of Cleveland, OH; sisters-in-law Faye (Jennings) Propps, Judy Meadows, Iris Spencer all of Summersville; brother-in-law Jerry (Susie) Frame of Summersville; and special adopted daughters Donna Gronau and Diana Swiger.

Leona was a graduate of Shinnston High School, Class of 1950. She was a loving housewife and surrogate Mom to all the neighborhood children. She was a lifetime member of Victor Chapel Church, Frances Mines, WV, and a retired member of Shinnston Vol. Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary.

The family wishes to extend their undying gratitude to the staff of Amedisys Hospice Care of Anmoore, WV for their compassion. Thank you to the Aide, Jennifer, Nurses Brenna, Cassandra, Cathy, and everyone else involved in her care. The family also extends their thanks to Chelsy Harmer for being a fantastic caregiver.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 11:00AM-1:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM with Rev. Brian Plum and Pastor Dave Wright officiating. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Enterprise.
