Lincoln Cubs bring home first play-off win

The Lincoln Cougar Cub youth football midget division team held their very first home playoff game Saturday evening.

Lincoln, ranked #4, knocked off the #5 Clarksburg Panthers, 34-13, in the first round of the Mountaineer Youth Football 2022 Midget Division Playoffs.

The team believes this is the first football team in Shinnston to win a playoff game.

The midget division consists of 10-12-year-olds.

Nick Glaspell had a 40-yard receiving touchdown (40 yards after catch); Felix Blake had a 15-yard rushing touchdown, two passing touchdowns and a 73-yard interception touchdown; Draven Markle had a 32-yard receiving touchdown (32 yards after catch) and a fumble recovery for a 25-yard touchdown and there was also a forced fumble by Talon Evans and Coleton Lanham recovered. 

The Lincoln Cougar midgets’ record is currently 7-2. 

The next playoff game will be held at Bridgeport High School on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lincoln cougar cubs will play the #1 ranked Bridgeport midgets.
