The Lord’s Pantry of Shinnston and its satellite, Ten Mile Baptist Church, has begun their 3rd ‘Spring Up To Stop Hunger’ campaign, which runs from March 1st through April 30th.

These local food pantries are grateful to all those who lent their support in previous campaigns and they invite new participants to take part this year and become donors.

During the 2016 campaign, the Lord’s Pantry was able to raise $29,240.03.  Monetary donations totaled $17,555.03, and food donations amounted to a value of $11,685.00.  Since food costs continue to rise and more people are unemployed, the food pantry is hoping to increase the amount of donations gathered during its 2017 campaign.

The Lord’s Pantry served 3,805 local families – a total of 6,346 people!  Approximately 150,000 pounds of food were distributed from the Mountaineer Food Bank, purchased made, and donations given.  Food cost for 2016 was $52,999.51.  This is an increase of approximately $3,500 more than 2015.

The Lord’s Pantry Executive Director Sandra Haggerty stated, “Contributions are critical to the operation of The Lord’s Pantry.  As our numbers make evident, we help a great number of families in our area.”

Monetary donations may be sent to The Lord’s Pantry at P.O. Box 64, Shinnston, WV 26431.  Donors may also earmark their donations for a particular cause, such as toward the purchase of meat, cleaning supplies, backpack program, personal hygiene items, etc.  Food donations may be dropped off at the Lord’s Pantry, located at 77 Church Court in Shinnston or to its satellite, Ten Mile Baptist Church in Dola.

If you are an Amazon buyer, you can also make donations when purchasing from this vendor.  Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase price to the Shinnston Lord’s Pantry at the link: http://smile.amazon.com/ch55-      0729703.   It is also possible to make a donation when you tweet @AmazonSmile.

The food pantry is a 501 © (3) non-profit agency.  For more information, call 304-592-0637 or 304-783-4601.
