The Stonewood CEOS club met at the Congregational Missionary Church fellowship hall. The meeting was called to order by president Ladonna Tucker. A candle was lit in memory of our deceased members.
Roll call by Secretary Estella Farnsworth. Members present were Ladonna Tucker, Deloris Wilson, Pam Cowdry, April Stout, Lesita Snider, Eva Summers, Sherry Blue, Terri Boyers, and Estella Farnsworth. Minutes of last meeting were read and accepted by secretary Estella Farnsworth.
Welcomed were guest members from the Quiet Dell CEOS; Christy Stewart, Cindy King, Elwanda Dennison, Sharon Gray, and Karen Davis also welcomed was Program Assistant John Wickline. Each member shared how many years they have been a member of the CEOS.
The monthly lesson was Cup of comfort: Coffee and its uses by Estella Farnsworth.
The first recorded use of coffee was in 1454 in Abyssinia (modern day Ethiopia) by a Muslim sheik Gemaleddin who introduced it throughout Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Turkey, as they say…the rest is history. Around the world the number 1 drink is water, followed by tea, then coffee. Coffee grounds have many other uses such as for gardening, skin care, and cleaning due to its texture. At the end of the lesson there was a drawing for a coffee mug…won by John Wickline, hopefully he is a coffee drinker! Meeting adjourned…
Members brought 25 jars of peanut butter to be donated to the Mustard Seed. Next month’s donation will be jelly. CVH were 609.5 and books read for the month were 16.
Time for lunch and fun and games!
Everyone enjoyed a lunch consisting of a baked potato bar with numerous toppings, salad and dessert, and of course coffee…and Sweet tea. Games played were bingo, getting to know you which consisted of members anonymously writing down something on an index card that they have done in life and members had to guess who it was…we even had a race car driver! Karen Davis guessed how many miniature pumpkins were in a container which was 72…she guessed 70; great job Karen.
There were also several door prizes awarded. We had a very enjoyable afternoon.
Many thanks to the Quiet Dell club members for visiting; we were thrilled to host you. Hopefully we can do it again in the future.
