
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Central West Virginia/Clarksburg Chapter 1579 installed their 2026 officers at its Annual Holiday Party on December 9, 2025. Officers were elected at the Chapter’s annual meeting on November 11. Officers elected were President Bill O’Field; Vice President Patty Flanigan; Secretary Brenda Gill; and Treasurer Shirley Masto.
The installation ceremony was conducted by WV NARFE Federation Alzheimer’s Chair Jeff Merz, who also serves as President of the Mountaineer/Morgantown NARFE Chapter. The ceremony was attended by 29 members and six guests.
Chapter member attendees at the holiday party were Lou Assaro, Robin Aucremanne, Sonny Aucremanne, Arnold Bramer, Connie Bramer, Sue Burns, Barbara Coberly, Anna Dodd, Becky Durrett, Bill Estep, Patty Flanigan, Yvonne Freedman, Theresa Gain, Brenda Gill, Lorrie Goodwin, Melissa Loder, Shirley Masto, Connie McNemar, Kandy Kummer, David Nicholson, Janice Nicholson, Bill O’Field, Melissa Overcash, Jean Papenburg, Nancy Parker, Susan Sturgill, Gloria Tassos, Charlotte Trent, and Lorie Wyant.
Chapter 1579 meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. in the meeting room at Brickside Bar and Grille at 101 Lodgeville Road in Bridgeport. Every September the Chapter does not meet but holds an annual picnic at 5:00 p.m. at the VA Park in Clarksburg. All Chapter 1579 activities are open to all active and retired federal employees even if they are not members.
Chapter 1579 represents the Central WV/Clarksburg area and is one of six NARFE chapters throughout the State. There are 376 registered chapter members in West Virginia with 94 members in Chapter 1579; 33 in the Beckley Chapter; 47 in the Charleston Chapter; 154 in the Eastern Panhandle/Martinsburg Chapter; 26 in the Fairmont Chapter; and 22 in the Mountaineer/Morgantown Chapter.
All NARFE Chapters are organized to support NARFE’s mission which in part is to support legislation and regulations beneficial to federal civilian employees and annuitants and potential annuitants under any federal civilian retirement system and to oppose those detrimental to their interests.
