ECUMENICAL SONG FEST
The Shinnston Area Council of Churches is sponsoring an Ecumenical Song Fest on Sunday, January 22nd at 6:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Shinnston in celebration of Ecumenical Sunday. Music will include several Shinnston singers and the Choir from the Peora UMC Charge. The event is free and open to the public. For further information or questions call 304-592-0214.
VERA BRADLEY BINGO
The Knights of Columbus, Clarksburg will host Vera Bradley Bingo on Sunday, January 22nd. Doors open 12:30 pm. Early bird 1:30 pm and bingo at 2:00 pm. $20 for 20 games. Food and drinks will be available. Proceeds to benefit cancer patient Sean Hutchison (medical bills). WOMEN’S ONLY ELIMINATION DINNER
St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 43 Mahlon St., Shinnston will hold a ‘women’s’ only elimination dinner fundraiser on Saturday, January 28th from 11 am to 2 pm. Tickets are $20. Hors d’oeuvres will be available followed by a fried chicken dinner with sides, beverage & dessert. Grand prize – $500. There will be 15 prize drawings and two 50/50 drawings.
BRIDGEPORT COUNCIL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SEEKING NEW MEMBERS
Fr. Charles Carrol of the Bridgeport Council 16494 Knight of Columbus is looking for new members to join the largest Catholic Fraternal Organization dedicated to charity. Any Catholic gentleman 18 or older that is a practicing Catholic may join their Order. The next meeting will be Thursday, January 19th at 7:30 pm. STEP UP FOR WOMEN
Step Up for Women is actively interviewing for an 11-week construction training class. The program will prepare students for jobs in the skilled trades and union apprenticeship. The program is completely grant funded so there is absolutely no cost to students. Classes begin March 6, 2017. BEEKEEPERS SHORT COURSE
The WV Beekeepers Assoc. is having a beginner beekeeping course in Bruceton Mills in February on 3 consecutive Saturdays (4th, 11th, and 18th from 10-2) at The Little Sandy Nazarene church. The cost is $50 per individual and $70 per couple. You must attend all three classes to complete the course. This includes your instruction, the Penn State Beginner beekeeping class book and a 1 year membership with the WV state Beekeepers Assoc.
