Happy birthday to legendary West Virginia University basketball coach Gale “Big Cat” Catlett, born on Hallowe’en 1940. Catlett broke into head coaching with the University of Cincinnati (who later hired Hall of Fame coach Bobby Huggins.) Catlett’s biggest victory came in 1996 at the expense of both Cincinnati and Huggins in the NCAA Tournament. He had 565 victories, 439 for the Old Gold and Blue.
