TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — Alejandra Puerto of Fairmont State women’s soccer has been selected to represent the Honduras Women’s National Soccer Team in a pair of friendly matches, the team revealed on Monday (Aug. 7). The matches will take place in Honduras from August 8-14.
Puerto was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Second Team and received All-Mountain East Conference Second Team honors following an impressive freshman campaign. The sophomore from La Ceiba, Honduras chipped in seven goals, including four game-winning goals, and six assists during her first collegiate season. Puerto was voted to the MEC All-Tournament Team after scoring the game-winning goal in the semifinals versus West Virginia State and helping lead the Falcons to their first MEC Championship.
Puerto and the women’s soccer team will begin the 2023 season on Aug. 31 at Seton Hill.
