Sunny Croft Country Club held its annual MGA (Men’s Golf Association) Opening Day Tournament on April 22. Despite rain all morning, the rain stopped at 8:45 a.m., allowing the golfers to officially kick off the 2017 season. The starting temperature was 49 degrees and dropped to 44 degrees, with a steady rain with five holes to play.
Even with British Open-like conditions, this was a very successful season-opener. At the conclusion of the tournament, the participants enjoyed lunch, the organizers handed out proximity prizes, and plans were announced for the next tournament – Derby Day – which will be on May 6.
Special recognition was given to the Tournament Committee (Eric Giaquinta, George Hayhurst, and Bruce Martin) and to the Social and Activities Coordinator, Marilyn Flanigan.
