Rebekah Suzanne Watson (Tonkery) passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Rebekah was born on January 3, 1980, in Fairmont, West Virginia to Howard Donald and Paula Suzanne Tonkery (Bice).
Rebekah graduated from Lincoln High School in 1998 and was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) at Sisters Elder Care, Shinnston, West Virginia. Rebekah had a natural gift for caring for people and spent nearly 28 years working in nursing homes where she brought comfort, kindness, and warmth to those in her care.
Rebekah was a kind and generous soul who never met a stranger. She was blessed with the gift of gab and made friends with anyone who crossed her path.
She would give you the shirt off her back and her last dollar, always willing to help and never expecting anything in return. Rebekah shared special friendships with her dear friends Trish Moore, Acacia Higginbotham, and especially Ed Livingston, who preceded her in death.
She also loved music, writing poetry, spending time and talking with her friends, taking care of others, but most of all, Rebekah loved her children fiercely. Rylan and Ashlynn were her world, and she would do anything for them.
Rebekah’s kindness and beautiful heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Travis Watson; her children, Rylan Ayden Kerns and Ashlynn Marie Watson; her mother-in-law, Penny Watson; her sisters, Angie Tonkery Fowler (Craig), Jennifer Tonkery, and Amanda Tonkery; her brother, Aaron Tonkery (Shari); her brother-in-law, Dusty Watson (Amanda Oliverio); her niece, Kelsee Crowl (Chris), and great-niece, Nora Crowl; nieces and nephews, Bentley Tonkery, Paxton Tonkery, Brooklynn Watson, and Daxton Watson; her aunts and uncles, Danny and Karen Bice Drain, Robert and Beth Bice, Kay Tonkery, and Bill and Karen Morgan; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Darwin Watson; maternal grandparents, Robert and Betty Nay Bice; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Betty Hudkins Tonkery.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026. A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2026 with Pastor Kevin Nuzum officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
