Approximately 50 students from nine RESA 7 counties will participate in the 2017 Regional Spelling Bee sponsored by the Exponent Telegram.

The event will be hosted by the School of Fine Arts at Fairmont State University. Beginning at 5:45 PM with registration and the Bee starting promptly at 6:30 PM, students from the surrounding counties will be submitted to numerous rounds of intense spelling to determine the 2017 Spelling Bee champion.

The top five winners will receive special recognition and an award during the event, as well as each participant will receive a certificate, T-shirt, and souvenirs. The winner of this year’s program will earn his / her place at the National 2017 Scripps Howard Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. in May.

A special thanks to the RESA 7 sponsors / partners for the 2017 Regional Spelling Bee: Exponent Telegram, for providing expenses to the National Scripps Howard Spelling Bee, Sports N Spokes for providing the special awards and recognition prizes, and to Fairmont State University for providing the facility and staff. Additionally, RESA 7 would like to thank our national sponsors for this event, Mr. Jay Sugarman, Merriam-Webster, and Encyclopedia eBritannica. RESA 7 genuinely appreciates and thanks all member county school systems and their staff members, parents, participating students and business partners for their continued support.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend. For information, contact Jeovanna Comer, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at RESA 7. She can be reached by phone at 304-624-6554 x 222 or by e-mail at jlacaria@k12.wv.us.
