Richard E. Lucas, 69 years old, of Sassafras Hills, Apt. Shinnston, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at his residence. He was born on October 27, 1955, a son to the late Otto and Marie Lucas.

He is survived by his loving children, Matthew Lucas of Winchester, VA, and Heather Lucas of VA; grandchildren Makenzie L. Wilson and Donovan L. Wilson of Shinnston, Nathan Martin, Tyler Lucas, Dustin Stephens, and Jordan Hubbard, Nathaniel Lucas Ryan; sisters Shirley Johnson of Lorain, OH, Sondra Lucas of Clarksburg, Linda Stalnaker of Morgantown, Diane Shears of Shinnston, and Louise Smith of PA, special nieces and nephews Hillary Stark and husband Josh of Shinnston, Steve Lucas of Shinnston, and Melissa Lucas of Shinnston, as well as many others; special great-nephews and niece DJ Lucas of Fairmont, Michaela Longanetta of Shinnston, David Burdette and his companion Brooklyn Davisson of Saltwell, Hunter Burdette and Destiny Burdette both of Shinnston, as well as several other great-nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Marybelle Lucas, which he married on October 27, daughters Jackie Renee Nottingham, Danielle Lucas Wilson, and Stacey Hubbard; a lot of half brothers and sisters; sister-in-law Marlene “Molly” McIntyre, brother-in-law Richard “Elmo” McIntyre, and nephew Dusty McIntyre.

Richard was a Construction/Handyman by trade, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He enjoyed spending all of his time with his family and friends, and adored his cats. Richard was a Baptist by faith. He loved spending his time outdoors, hiking through the woods, volunteering at the Lords Pantry, putting together puzzles, and spending time with his neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know him.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 2:00PM-7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 7:00PM with Pastor Kevin Nuzum officiating.
