Robert Dale Toth, 89, of Shinnston, passed away on October 26, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 1, 1935, a son of the late Joseph Toth and Lucille Shook Toth. Also deceased is his sister, Nancy Hissen and her husband, Walter.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Glenda Mae Toth, whom he married on October 14, 1958. He was blessed by a wonderful family; his daughter Tammy Karmie and her husband, Jim; his son Chris Toth and his wife, Debra. His grandchildren are Allison Handschumacher and husband Jon, Adam Toth and wife Andrea, Victoria Evans and husband, Travis, Alexis Karmie and companion, Jake Lynch. The great-grandchildren are Landry, Paisley, and Ellie Handschumacher, and London and Sullivan Evans; many nieces and nephews.

Bob graduated from Shinnston High School, class of 1954, and attended Fairmont State College. He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. His working career began at the Toggery in Shinnston, the Zinc Plant in Spelter, then Consol’s Robinson Run Mine #95, Shinnston, where he retired with 23 years of service. He was a member of UMW of A, District 31.

He was a member of the Charles Street Christian Church for over 70 years where he served as Elder, Lay leader and numerous services to his church. As a man of faith in God, he read his Bible daily.

He was elected Shinnston City Recorder during the time Shinnston was transitioning from the old city building to the new.

He was a Steelers fan and his favorite pastime was watching Jimmy Swaggart’s sons live broadcasting and Jewel City Church’s TV ministry.

Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday. A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday, October 31, 2025 wit Pastor Tom Lasure officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Charles St. Christian Church, 605 Jackson St., Shinnston, WV 26431 or the Lords Pantry, P.O. Box 64, Shinnston, WV 26431.
