Sarah Elisabeth Rogers

Sarah Elisabeth Rogers, 30, of Worthington, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at her home. She was born August 4, 1993 in Fairmont, a daughter of Kevin Lee and Lisa Ann Rocovich Knight, who survive her in Worthington.

Sarah is also survived by her loving husband and fellow firefighter, Ian Robert Rogers, whom she married on August 16, 2014.

Also surviving are her brother, Caleb Knight and his wife Rhonda of Charleston; her sister, Maggie Shreve and her husband Joshua of Clarksburg; her sister-in-law, Jennifer Tolar and her husband Casey of Worthington; her nieces and nephews, Isaac Shreve, Finley Knight, and Ashton, Addison, and Isabella Tolar; her mother-in-law, Glenna Henderson of Worthington; and her father-in-law, Robert Rogers and his wife Kim Rodrick of Morgantown; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sarah was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Elizabeth Rocovich; and paternal grandparents, Quentin and Peg Knight.

Sarah was a 2011 graduate of North Marion High School. She went on to attend Pierpont Community and Technical College where she attained her National Registry Paramedic certification. Sarah devoted her life to saving life and property in her community as a Captain of the Worthington Volunteer Fire Department. She served that department for over 14 years. In her professional career, she was employed as a Flight-Paramedic with Healthnet Aeromedical Services, a Captain with Monongalia County EMS, Harrison County EMS, and most recently, Upshur County EMS.

Beyond that amazing devotion to her community, Sarah loved to be outside. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing the guitar. She also loved spending time with her family and friends, as well as her dogs Regan, Lilly, and Trixie. She also cherished caring for her granddaddy’s 1934 Model A.

Sarah touched an overwhelming amount of lives. Both as a person and professional, Sarah could be found encouraging people to follow their dreams and reach their full potential.

Friends will be received at Family Life Fellowship Church, 124 Chestnut St. Enterprise, WV, on Friday from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, September 16th, at 11:00 am with Pastor Aaron Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
